Hello I’m Mayra – Wife of 1 and Mom of 2! I love animals + all things spooky.
For as long as I can remember I have loved to take photos. In middle school, I used to take photos of my friends with a little camera that used 110 film! I switched over to 35mm, then various digital cameras, a few DSLR’s and currently a mirrorless camera! It was after my children were born that I started to seriously learn how to use my camera so I could document their growth.

A little more about me:
Both of my parents immigrated to the United States from Mexico but I was born and raised in Houston, TX. I am the second oldest of 5 (I have 3 sisters and 1 brother). I earned a BBA from The University of Houston with a double major in Accounting & Finance and a minor in Spanish. I’m an Accountant full-time and a Photographer part-time which is why I only take a very limited number of sessions per month. I’m a self taught photographer but when I felt I couldn’t learn any more on my own, I started watching all the YouTube tutorial videos that I could. I took several online photography classes and even a few in-person workshops with some of my most favorite photographers in my pursuit to learn as much as I could about photography. I love learning and continue to practice and grow every single day.

Quick random facts about me
I worked in a Walgreens One Hour Photo Lab for 4 years when I was in college. I used to spend my summers in Mexico with my abuelitas from ages 13 to 18. My dream is to live on a farm with lots of chickens and horses. I love old historic homes and would love to live in one some day – the more “haunted looking” the better! A secluded log cabin would be super cool too, though! I hate making decisions. I’m scared of heights. I love to shop. I love going to antique stores but I’m scared to buy something that’s haunted. I appreciate hand-crafted items such as hand painted dinnerware or pottery shaped by human hands. I’m a homebody but I also love experiencing new places. My favorite food are the tostadas that my mom makes. My favorite drink is cola-cola. I love techy gadgets and am currently working on learning how to use a drone. It took me forever to update this website because I didn’t know what to write about myself. HAHA!
What do I love most about photography?
I love capturing moments that become beautiful memories
I take pictures of everything, though not always with my professional camera. Photos are like little time capsules for me. Looking back at them reminds me of things that would have otherwise been forgotten. I often find myself looking in my camera roll or through the folders in my computer and just being flooded with memories of places we’ve gone to or things we have done. That is what I love most about photography! Even with literally thousands of photos I’ve taken, it never feels like enough!
